A Hero to Both Egypt and Christianity

St. Athanasius (296-373) lead the Christian community of Alexandria, Egypt and defended the Christian belief in the Trinity at the Council of Nicaea in 325.

For the Christians of Egypt

 

Open Doors estimates there are over 9 million Christians in Egypt, composing about 10% of the overall population. The Egyptian Christian community is the largest in the Middle East. Most Egyptian Christians belong to the Coptic Orthodox Church, but there are also sizable communities of Armenians, Catholics, Greek Orthodox, and Protestants.
