Subject: Iranian-backed Militias are Blocking Iraqi Christian and Yazidi ISIS Survivors from Returning to their Homes

Message:

Dear Representative,

I am asking you to co-sponsor H. Res. 259, which calls on Congress to recognize and help minorities to return to their homes in Iraq.

Since the invasion in 2003, Iraq’s Christian community alone has dwindled from roughly 1.5 million to less than 250,000. Likewise, the Yazidis and other ethnic and religious minorities were forced from their homelands.

The thousands which fled from the rise of religious intolerance and genocide are now waiting in refugee camps until they are able to return to their homes.

In alignment with U.S. regional reconstruction efforts, H. R. 259 supports the resettlement of these internally displaced persons and refugees back to their ancestral homelands.

H. Res. 259 calls for an international coalition to take on the integration of religious minorities into the regions security forces as well as an adequate security strategy aimed at restoring the region’s ancient mosaic of religious pluralism.

Leaving these genocide survivors and minorities in their current state of displacement deters the reconstruction efforts of Iraq.
